I remember talking about this speech to a friend when I was in Delhi. He pointed out a logical innacuracy in this statement.. Technically, at the stroke of the midnight hour, Just one part of the world is sleeping..The other part is wide awake already...

In 1947, 'the world' was limited to India & Pakistan only... :P
